RH Door fitting
Discussion
Anyone seen this?
My right hand door is not meeting the latch pin correctly. My left door's latch pin met exactly center of the latch. The RH door's latch is about 3/8" (or 10 mm) too low. I have tried putting washers between the hinge and the body, and also tried putting washers between the door and the hinge on the low side. Neither seem to be bringing up the door enough to make the pin meet the center of the latch.
The rose joint is in about as for as it will go. I would have to trim the door around the rose joint quite a bit if I were to tighten it up more, and I did not have to trim that area at all on the LH door.
The pre-fit was done at the factory, so I can't imagine the hinges or latch/pin in in the wrong place.
Am I missing something?

The only possibility is that the body is not back on the chassis in exactly the place the factory had it.
Final door fitting is not done at prefit for this very reason.
Quote from prefit section of handbook:-
“At this stage only remove enough material from the doors to just fit the aperture as the final shut lines can only be achieved after the body is permanently fitted to the chassis.”
Start back at the handbook and achieve the very best and even shut line all around the front of the door and yes, you may need to cut back some more of the front edge around the top hinge. Once you have achieved that you can work on the back edge and the lock position.

Everything SHOULD be back where it was. The factory did do the pre-fit, and when I got the car, the first thing I did was mark all of the panels with tape and drew register marks for everything. The register marks are still on the car, and all of the panels align exactly. The countersunk screws in the side pods in place, and did not require removal.(Meaning the side pods didn't require foward or backward movement for final alignment) The factory pre-fit was dead on. Even the temporary fixing rivet holes ligned up again...
I think I remember Bob had a similar problem, but Bobs Ultima Site is gone now...
The door DOES fit into the aperature and the shut lines look good (will need some final fit, but nothing out of the ordinary). The problem is that since the catch does not align with the pin, it does not close easily, and the catch has to be forced over the pin. My LH door matches perfectly and closes with no effort at all. Thats whats is frustrating me... the door fits as it should after it DOES close (which means the catch and pin are in the right place) its that the angle the door is low. I have shimmed the door/hinge with washers, and that helps, but does not go far enough. Shimming it out more would cause the pin to catch on the door as it closes. (forces the door too far backward)
Scratching my head....

This door is usually further back than the other door, so it needs washers, also the pin in shorter so it does not hit the door, you can also move the pin on the same plane and this can help.
By the way Bobs site still works for me, here the link for the door fitting.

I have the same problem, and the body is definiately back on the car exactly where the "prefit rivets" positioned it. I have looked at this in detail and suspect that the problem could be solved on my car by rotating the latch on the door, not by repositioning it (thats been done countless times).
