Took the GTR on a 15 mile test drive on the open road. Been a couple days now, and I am still grinning like I had a weekend in Mexico with Heidi Klum.

I had previously taken it around the block a few times to do the shakedown and re-tourqe, but that was all.

Lots of turned heads, and one close call with a blind Volvo driver. (almost T-boned me!) Luckily I was not hit, and I didn't have to go to prison for commiting a class 1 felony.

Still have a bit of tuning to do as the EFI is running rich in places, but what a rush! Runs like a raped ape! The sound out of those pipes is difficult to describe, but vicious is a good start... Drives like a slot car too.

I still have a few minor details to sort out, but it's pretty much complete! The weather here in Denver has been sketchy, and I am waiting for one of our fabled 70 degree winter days to really take it out into the mountains and carve some canyons.

I have added a pic to my profile.

And the Volvo driver didn't see you?

Gawd, they don't get any better, do they?

Good choice, Heidi Klum. Seriously, that's fantastic. I will be in Denver soon!

How much time do you estimate from start to present?

It's been 10 months from start to (almost) finish. I have been traveling a lot with my job recently, so that has made a big dent in the time I had to work on it.

I took it for a 60 mile spin today. Beautiful day here so I couldn't resist. A buddy of mine went with me and we dialed in the EFI some more. Still not perfect, but getting a lot closer. Sneaking up in it anyway. Lots of questions, lots of looks, (a State Patrolman almost took TOO much interest).

Scott, when you get to Denver, look me up...

I've been to Colorado twice on bikes, in '88 and '90. Got pulled by a State Trooper on both occasions, but didn't get a ticket on either time. Are they just looking for out of state plates?

Well, being a sport-biker myself, I have had my fair share of close calls and from time to time, have made a few unplanned donations to the policemans ball too..

Due to the nature of the roads here, and the number of bikes on the road, they see a lot of people wadded up on guardrails and worse. I generally know which roads are patrolled and where. Also use a radar/laser detector... Between the two, I generally avoid any unpleasantness.
