Unique cylinder block casting with large, 104.8-mm bores and pressed-in cylinder liners
• Forged steel main bearing caps
• Forged steel crankshaft
• Titanium connecting rods with 101.6-mm stroke
• Forged aluminum flat-top pistons
• 11.0:1 compression
• Dry-sump oiling system
• Camshaft with .591-inch lift

The LS7 in an Ultima? Yeah Baby, Yeah!!
I have spent the last 2 days trying to find a way to fit the LS7 to a Porsche Transaxle, and am still working on it. (Thanks Ted and Richard for your patience with all my questions). In theory the LS7 will be sold as a crate engine this fall, so I have got about 9 months to figure out how to hook this up to the G50/52 or a Getrag or an Aisin? Will CNC for food!

Can anyone tell what difference or if it is advisable to put a flat plane crank on one of these push rod chevy V8's? It seems like it would be a cheap way to add horsepower to an already high horsepower engine and improve the smoothness. It might make this engine even more interesting.

The standard LS1/LS6 (Gen 3) adaptor and flywheel will fit the Gen 4 engine to a G50.

There is a good thread about this somewhere and a search may find it. It's much smoother to have a 90 degree crank for a road car and you get proper balance which you can never achieve with a flat plane. You would also have to get it patterned, cast and machined so the crank would probably cost you over 3k. A blower would be less and a more viable route to power imho.

what do you lot think one of these engines will rev to? some people in the states recon it will go to 8.5K rpm, but that would yealed stupid mean piston speeds. i worked it out to be 28ms-1 at 8k, which is higher than a F1 engines 26ms-1 (i think).
so what do you lot think it will go to?

So they aren't even produced in mass for Chevy tuners? I have read some threads about his regarding TVR, Ferrari, Lotus and have even heard some people at Club Cobra discuss it. I have seen a video of a racing corvette (of some sort) doing a 1/4 mile with the sound of a flat plane. I had never actually heard people in the Chevy world discuss or opt for it (just that video). Elsewhere some one claimed nascar used flat plane cranks but it doesn't sound (as in the cars exhaust sound) like it to me. I keep hoping it will show up hear in some ones Ultima!
I've never heard of a flat plane offering for any of the small blocks but then I don't live in the USA so my info is largely forum based. They may have used them for nascar or something but I've never seen it and I also have quite a few chevy based tuning books. No flat planes mentioned there either.
