A/C hose routing?

Today's project is getting the A/C unit's evaporator tray fitted to the cockpit. Toward that end, I've been examining all the photos I can find, including the factory's. While there are good pics available of most of the process, I've been unable to locate any images showing the hose runs from the evaporator to the upper dash vents.
Every photo I've seen shows the downward-facing vents connected to the second and fourth evaporator ports. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the inboard pair for the downward vents and the outboard pair for the upward vents?
Should I decide to install the face vent kit, where does that get spliced in?
Getting the A/C squared away is probably the last pre-holiday task on the car, so…
