I gather the Ultima uses one of these 'dry' racing batteries that can go on their side. What amps/cranking power etc to you folks use to fire up a SBC. Basically, I'm looking for the smallest/lightest battery that would get a moderately tuned small block consistently in to life.

many thanks

Most of us are using an Odysey PC 625. (Actually a ski-doo battery) It's slightly larger than a motorcycle battery, but does a great job of turning over the SBC. The one caviot is that if you run fuel injection, it tends to be marginal in supporting the voltage requirement for the EFI. The other option for a small battery is the Optima Yellow Top 51.

I am using the Odyssey 680.
Its more powerfull but the same price. the reason for this is that it is used on most of the 1000cc and upward motorbikes which keeps the cost down.
£90 delivered.
