Looking at a possible purchase of a GTR with LS7 putting out 650bhp. Iinterested to hear of any issues the LS7 has. The car will be used on the public roads in the UK, track days and some sprints. What regular maintenance is required & what sort of clutch life can be expected. I have previous experience of running a small block powered GTR.
Thanks in advance.

I have an LS7 in my GTR. Great engine. At present bog standard crate engine.
650hp suggests a different cam and probably other mods. So more heat - how is it dealt with for fuel, cooling and under clip?
What is the transmission and how is it geared in top for reasonably relaxed cruising? The clutch will need to be a good one - the Factory may know what was fitted and can advise if suitable. My clutch is fine unless I accidently slip it too much when engaging second and apply too much throttle before it is fully engaged, when it will slip. Done over 9k miles on the clutch now.
Maintenance is simple (well in my case).
Oil and filter change once a year(approx 4K miles/annum). About £90 all in.
Plugs probably this year at about 10k-11k miles.
I see no other issues really. No oil leaks. Starts every time, even when hot. No need to pump throttle - just push button/turn key and she starts, slightly high revs while cold and then slows as engine warms. Will sit and tick over for ages with rad fans cycling as needed.
Simples...

LS7 here too, changed the cam oil pump, chain and valve gear. Once tuned it acts very much as Paul describes a standard one does, starts on the button every time, doesn't use oil and requires no maintenance as such, just oil changes and standard checks.
Only done 7k but lots of track work and when it was opened up for the cam and valve gear change it was literally like new.
I don't and have never had heat or fuelling issues, however I do have a few body mods to help with heat management and a very simple and reliable fuel system.
If it's a 650hp engine Id want to know what has been done to get that, I'd assume at a minimum new cam, heads and intake, although saying that I wouldn't get too hooked on ultimate power - an ls7 with a new cam is a quick car.
Agree with Paul re clutch.
Check uprights and bearings, driveshafts, wishbone tabs and gear change.
