Suspension Bushes

Is anyone running with the uprated bushes with the s/s inserts? Do you think they have made any difference? Do you think they are worth the £130 +vat?

I have just changed... the factory inserts were the wrong size so check if you have just ordered them. I started with the orange ones which just dont last on the rear end..... front end has never been a problem. The grey ones seem to last a lot longer, the RED ones are supposed to be the very best. We will see. They seem much softer than the grey ones.... more like the orange ones.

I am bit confused now. Thought that I had the original RED ones fitted, by the factory. These wear out pretty fast, also on the front (had to replace them after approx. 8.000 miles, with little track exposure). I am not aware that there are also ORANGE ones? At least mine looked RED...

Anyway, we replaced all rear and front bushes with custom made Delrin ones, incl. grease nipple on each one. Cost was neglectible but took a lot of work to custom fit each one. Result is excellent, better up- and down movement than before, no impact on ride comfort despite harder material and absolutely no wear, also not on the rear.

well the "first" ones were orange (ish!) and the later ones are VERY red! The latest red ones have 4 small indents in the plastic, (not seen in situ) so you cant tell if they are fitted. The RED ones have only been around for a few months, the orange ones for at least 6 years. Hope these last!

what grease are you using.? Dont want to worry you but its important its a non lithium. Use pace grease for mountain bikes forks or similar.

to edfoxuk: thank you for the advice, I´ll try to find out with my mechanic. Have really no idea what we used.
Could you just explain a bit why lithium grease is bad and what would happen if we used that?

with the new red bushes you get special gunk from superflex who make them.

lithium attacks the plastic, sends it brittle. i'm sure you'll be ok if you've used whatever was recomended. always use the right stuff. normal grease will mess things up , horribly.

played with mtn bike for log time, elastomers and nylon doesn't like ordinary grease one little bit.
