Seat Locations

Before I put my cockpit section back on I've decided to drill the seat/seatbelt mount holes in the floorpan.

I was going to use the factory supplied template but then noticed on a couple of build sites that guys "sat" in the car to determine locations.

So my question is "What worked for you, factory template or sitting in the car?".

I used the factory placement with the factory seats. Worked out just fine. I am 6"2... The placement allows the seat to go back as far as the seats/firewall allow...

Sounds like this template is some new fangled gubbins to make life easier. I don't know, young 'uns these days...

Ok, finally got round to working on the car after a two week break and decided to start on the seat holes.

When I printed the template out it doesn't mention if the measurements are from the main rails surrounding the floor trays or from the where the tray comes down from the rails and starts to become horizontal again?

Any help appreciated

My diagram references the measurements from the main rails.

The dimensions are from the box section rails.
And yes the seat positions are not pointing true fore and aft.
I think they are also not in the same position each side to leave clearance for the gear change shaft.

You also need as much space as possible for the handbrake lever. I used one out of a Range Rover. It's the same basic design as the factory one but has a nice moulded grip. I'm going to have to cut the grip off as you cannot get your hand round it between the seats.
