I will apologise beforehand if this question has been asked or answered previously, I have searched and cannot find the or a answer, has anyone thought, tried or successfully relocated the driving position to the centre of the cockpit ?

New one on me! You may as well have a single seater racing car!
For the road, you could argue: have some proper luggage space! smile and no more mates asking you for a go in it!
Technically I dont see any reason you couldnt.... might be some serious messing about with the handbrake though.

But..... why?

Why not ? Just a thought, maybe better road vision, and overal balance, I'm sure a solution for the handbrake could be sorted without too much trouble.

A big part of the fun with an Ultima is sharing the experience with others.

They are such a different ride to anything else the average Jack or Jill will enjoy.

It is fun to share. Besides, the passenger foot well and seat are great for Le Mans luggage!

While obviously not a true single-seater, I've found the driving position in the Ultima to be so nearly parallax-free that I don't think it would be worth the effort to switch over, at least not from a driving experience perspective. If you simply prefer the aesthetics of a central seating position, that's another matter.

The stock seating position is already so centralized that, in trying to maintain my usual eye position within a traffic lane, I often find myself drifting left and having to correct back toward the middle. Placing the car in the middle of a lane requires one's eyes (mine, at least) to be very nearly in the middle, too.

Anyway, that's another data point… :-)
