Remote horn....

I'm nearing the stage of dash covering, but before I commit to final switches I want to look at locating the horn button where it should be, in the steering wheel. I have a Momo Race s/wheel with centre horn push, can someone recommend a good remote transmitter for this job or is it a case of going to Maplins, how easy is it to set up, and how much of a delay is there between pushing the button and the noise?

All sounds a bit fancy. I opted to use the steering wheel horn switch in my OMP steering wheel. I just used 2 light weight cables fixed to the column and enough tucked behind the dash to allow for them wrapping around the column when turned. In reality it is only ~1.25 turns from centre to full lock and in normal driving hardly any so the stress on the cables is minimal. I have had no problems with reliability and think this concept is fine for a small number of wires. Going the remote control route worries me slightly, a bit like battery powered smoke alarms - you will find you have a flat battery just when you need it!

I did contemplate using two wires from the horn push, but worried that they might break with all the turning, but I guess if you're saying that if you have enough of it behind the dash the movement should be minimal and so should the chances of it breaking?? Might give this ago then, another switch relegated to the bin!

I found there is a slight delay between button push and horn sounding - I would say less than 1/2 a second. Overall, pretty easy install - just ran the power wire from the horn through a relay on this board, and set that relay for momentary operation.
