Tire Flat Spotting?

Has anyone been having trouble with their tires flat spotting when the car has been sitting? I had this problem with my Porsches and wondered if the GTR will do the same?

Not if you take it out often enough.

Hi Brad,

For extended storage (usually about five to six months for my Porsches)I overinflated the tires by about 10-15PSI (total 45PSI plus). The tires retained their shape and did not go out of round.

Some people swear by the new "tire cradles" which are profiled to accept Porsche tires (BTW all Porsche tires are invariably 25" in overall diameter regardless of size which makes it easy to standardize the cradles) I imagine you could fashion a suitable cradle out of wood for the ULTIMA tires or use a set of auto skates from COSTCO which should allow the tires to distribute the load of the car over a greater contact patch of tire surface.

Incidentally the 335-30-18 Ultima rears are 25.9" in diameter and the 245-35-18 fronts are 24.8" in diameter

Hi Ike:

Thanks for the advice. I did look at the tire cradles but I thought them to be on the pricey side. I have access to some VERY heavy and dense rubber in tiles large enough for the Ultima so I'll give them a try. I've got plenty of these so if you want a set to try, drop me an email. The flat spots usually go away once the tire is heated up to operating temps. If you don't drive agressively and they don't get up to temp, A few light burnouts might help the rears, LOL
