HI guys , some of you may be up for this , its the American Car World nationals at Avon park (shakey raceway) Stratford upon avon. Its drag racing for full body streetcars , good fun last year , be great if any of you can make it.

Are you sure they will let an Ultima in?
This was a problem at the last Pistonfest where it did not fit the catagory.

I believe the ACW is actually a championship fought out by a group of racers..

However, the ACW race days are normally RWYB days, as was saturday just gone (we were testing the dragster that day)..

The volvo T5 owners club appeared to be there as well, so that's about 10 quid for the day, 15 quid to register to run the car, scutineering and you're off and running...

If you haven't done it before... DO IT!!! You won't regret it!

Yup it was my car that failed at scrutineering last year. The reason given was that is was not a 'rod' and not in keeping with the class (American) and that it was deemed a production car

We also had a guy with us who was a fire marshall for the track, and even after his 'words' of wisdom they were adam ant we weren't racing. There was also a load or paranoia from the bucket racing regulars that Pistonheads was taking over their event which we later found out to be rubbish, and the tails were clearly visible on the NSRA forums.

However, these new dates are straight forward run what ya brung so anything should go. It would be good to see some good times set down (subject to track conditions). Our best run in mine was an 11.3, running 15 psi on the rears and with the rear shocks backed off 5 clicks each. The reaction time could have taken us nearer 11 dead, but Clive had been eating to many doughnuts. With only three runs, it was very close all the way and very good fun.
