Protecting Alloy Transmission Housing

Hi guys, busy trying to sort as much stuff as I can possibly do while waiting impatiently for my chassis to be delivered ;-)

Working on my transaxle at the moment, just had it glass bead blasted locally and it looks great now but wondering how best to protect it. Do you think a coat of clear laquer or similar will do the trick or will it peel off / crack with the heat? Or is any coating actually needed? ( I've already cleaned off 1 set of dirty fingerprints from moving it ).

I am thinking zinc-chromate, but still looking into it.

I painted mine with PPG DP90 epoxy primer and silver acrylic urethane. I know it holds more heat in, but I show the car too.

I etch prime and paint with wheel silver. It's pretty tough and stayed put on the GTR
