LOL, I would have to have two or three of them...one or two to rebuild and one in the GTR. That would be amazing, though!

thats feckng ace! think about it though. its said that the Caterhams RS500 EVO engine (the 1.8 K with 250bhp) cost over £14K and the new bread of motor bike V8s are in over £15K each!

now if you had a nice light car (say a sprinter or hill climb) then one of these would be cheaper and give you more power, even if you set a lower rev limit to kep the builds at bay!

and then you look at the old cossy V8s that are fetching around $40K i think.

so buy it. then even if the missis says what you spent all that money on that little thing for? you can say coz it was the "cheaper" option

Thanks for the LS7 pics builder - useful site.

I'm wondering when the crate engines will be available. GM dealers can submit Z06 customer orders to the factory in July and cars will start shipping in August/September. Presumably 100% of the (hand-built) LS7 production will go into cars until supply exceeds demand, so maybe by next year.... 500bhp with no mods - mmmmmm.

That's the big question, "When?"

Everything I have read say the General will release the LS7 crate engine almost the same time as the Z06. If that's the case, we should see them in August/September. That would be a perfect timeframe for my GTR build. I can decide to go LS7, or another route, at that time.

I have my name on a couple of waiting lists, so I should get a couple of opportunities to purchase. If you, or anyone on this board would like the second position, let me know. That way, if I have the opportunity to purchase but decide a different route, someone can step in and take it.

How cool would that be...to have an LS7 in an Ultima!

I'm interested - not for an Ultima but for a Cerbera based project that will be ready for an engine about that time (I hope). But I probably won't buy one if it's much over $10k, which it probably will be, so I'm just waiting and watching for now.

Anyone have any idea what ECU it runs ?

I've been poking around at alternative dash's other than stack's and came up with this :

Looks to be road legal as well with the odometer unlike the motec units - just wondering if it'll interface with the LS7 ECU...

The pukka ls7 parts are already out there but you have to custom build up using some of your own components. That's ok for me, I don't want a dry sump My alu ls7 plenum is already under way so I'm sorted!

"Pee" has fitted a Pista version of the Aim dash which has all the sensors wired direct to it.
I am fitting the same version but the Motec ecu has all the engine info and talks to the dash via a 2 wire "CAN" connection. So if you use a Motec then now prob, if not see if the LS7 ecu has "CAN" capability.....
