I've got a trip planned in early October, but if it doesn't clash with the weekend you choose, I'll come along too.

Seriously I have heard that we should get there early, anyone got 1st hand experience of "the pod "

The earlier you get there, the more strip time you'll get. The amount of runs you get in are unlimited, although you'll spend alot of time waiting in the fire up road if it's busy! Also worth noting is, whilst normal seat belts are allowed, if you haven't got a roof on your car, you'll need a crash helmet.
You'll also need a crash helmet if your car will do more than 100mph at the finish line, which should apply to all you Ultima owners!

I am going as is the slow member of the family from the factory. I think domster may come as well. I am looking forward to seeing what times are set and how much the TC will either improve or slow the car down

Why do I think that every traffic light on the way will be treated as an unofficial practice start !!!

What routes are we going, my best route will be M40, A43 past Silverstone ( very appropriate ) to Northampton

I have been to the pod before to watch but I followed drag racing for quite a while.
My advice would be to get there early and watch the other competitors as see how the regulars are doing things.

There will be water down befor the lights for people to do a burn out to warm their tyres. when doing the burn out make sure you roll out of it so you dond leave and water on your tyres. If you dont want to do a burn out then drive round the water.

Check which lights you will be using as there are two sequences they can use. They will be probably be running sportsman lights which means the yellows go on one after the other and the green light, lights 1/2 second after the last yellow. Probably better to ask someone who races regually to explain the staged and pre-staged lights.

Ill try and dig up some more details

ok go to www.santapod.com/ and take a look that their how to start racing section.
