1500hp... USA Ultima RS

I hope so - there's a couple of builds going on at the moment which I'm following

Each of us makes decisions regarding our builds. Some want factory-built rollers, others really enjoy the build. I've built 2 GTRs now and my second one has a lot of "nice to have" that the first one did not, front lift, electric steering, backup camera, etc. That's my take after 13 years in the community. My Point to new builders is this IMHO chasing big Horsepower levels is a fool's game. Either you go for it N.A. which makes the thing a gas hog and difficult to live with and very expensive or add boast which makes the thing a plumbers nightmare. Look at the factory numbers with different levels of power then compare the accel numbers not that different. 600 hp in these cars on the street is 150 more than you might ever use. On track 600 hp or 720 or 1000 unless you are on a pure power track the better driver will set the best lap times. Think about it don't let your ego or bar talk ruin a great project

I also started with a 400hp L98.
then I put 550 on and it wasn't enough for me yet on the track (obviously). now I have an Ls7 race @ 8000rpm (750/800cv NA?):
simply scary on the street.!!!
it seems that the post wants to break away from the rest of the car!
I haven't gotten used to it yet and I still have to try it on track, especially to see how much everything will hold up together

read the posts above and all of them have a unique vision of what they want. As it should be. My point is if you're building a car for street use 98% of the time then the experience of driving a well sorted Ultima up in the hills is not going to be enhanced by 800 hp, and the cost of acquisition and maintenance manhours to keep it in good condition is going to be substantial. On the other hand, if you're some of the folks above and you understand the car and want to run for the fastest time of the day at a track then you make the sacrifices in expense and daily driveability and I wish you good hunting. Lets remember the first post was about A1500 H.P. BOOSTED MOTOR what could possibly go wrong.
I’m also building a twin turbo Ultima, full boost should be around the 1200hp mark. I think the beauty of going forced induction is that with the modern engine management systems that are available you can adjust the boost and power levels to suit your mood/ driving environment. Mine will be fully adjustable by potentiometer from 5 to 24lbs and a button to go straight to full boost (at whatever that level of boost I decide) I also have traction control to cut power at the loss of my driving talent. My choice is obviously not to everyone’s taste but is my choice, I want to feel what 1200hp is like even if it is only once and the dial never goes there again and I run at 6/700bhp on low boost. I’m not going to be stuck with a fixed output N/A engine. Mines still being built by myself, it’s been a very long and frustrating journey at times, but I’m enjoying it.

I’d like to class mine as pretty well sorted, albeit more for track ability than road. I like the car to feel a little unhinged and when you’re at 600ish up you can get used to it pretty quickly, hence the desire to want more? Needed? No. For me what Brett/845ste has done is my ideal - 800hp, high revving and n/a.
I also get why even an ls3/7 is “too much” for some and 350-400hp gives exactly the performance and experience they want.
