fans not cutting in

My fans don't cut in at all on temp.

I haven't noticed this before, simply because as soon as I hit any slow or stationary traffic, I switch the overide on.
The temp got to nearly 100c and still did not come on automatically when I switched the over ride off.

Is the stat knackered, do you think?

Could be. Its fairly easy to test it with a multimeter.

Is it possible that when the over-ride was wired, took the stat out of the loop? (I don't have an over-ride, so I thought I'd ask)

hi gaz, remove the connectors from the stat and short them together, if the fans come on the stat is not working correctly. if they still dont come on you have a wiring fault. dave

Just for my own fun I tested the thermostat before putting it in the car. Mine switched on in a pot of boiling water. Tried to test the accuracy of the temp gauge as well, but with not much success - it at least moves the needle in right general direction.

(you can tell I'm a plumber can't you? with my knowledge of electrics!!)

perhaps you could replace that stat with one from the c/heating setup, adjustable then for summer or winter.
