As there is this major discussion about engines and engine technology here`s some info that some of you might find interesting.
I`m a consultant for Ultima customers in Germany as I managed to register my GTR with a full emission compliant LS6 engine package in december 2004.
Today we can offer a comprehensive engine package that will fit in an Ultima and is approved by the factory. No modifications have to be done to the cars as it`s a plug-and-play package.
The package consists of: a new LS2 engine from the latest Corvette, custom programmed ECU (which took most of the time as the original LS2 computers have only just become available), custom wiring harness, all sensors, GM emission hardware (including GM cats), O2 sensors, GM exhaust headers, high pressure fuel pump + filter (with integrated pressure regulator and return), engine mount adapters, etc.
Several engine packages have already been delivered to german customers, the engines should meet the EURO4 emission regulation as it uses all the GM emission hardware.
The factory supplied exhaust system will NOT fit to the LS2 engine, neither will the Getrag-Chevy adapter plate, but the G50-plate will.
In other words emmissions and a modern engine is no excuse not to buy an Ultima because it is an available option.
So if anyone is interested in that option please feel free to send me a message to sveschi@web.de

Any pics of the engine complete, ready to drop in? I'm interested in the a/c and alternator location, belt routing, and exhaust system used. I'm planning an LS1/LS6/LS2 hybrid, so looking for more info.

I am going to be using a stock LS1 from a 2000 corvette initially (may decide to upgrade for more horsepower at some time in the future)so I am very interested in your setup, especially regarding:

custom harness
exhaust and headers
ECU
engine mounts
oil pan configuration
fuel system and delivery - pump, regulator etc.
I have factory A/C but would like to use the stock LS1 compressor if possible.

Thanks
Ike

Please be so kind as to send me an email for further info and some engine pics. As stated above the engine package is complete (including alternator). All "problems" regarding ECU, harness, fuel delivery, etc. have been solved and it is a more or less trouble-free installation.

Doing a LS2, 6 speed 64 chevelle 2 dr wagon now.
I Trained last December with Katech (builders of the C5R LeMans engines) in LS2 tech.
Working on obtaining LS7's most recently.

which chassis has been used???

i noticed that the chassis used by jschwartz is different to that used by mark koch, even though they are both using LSx blocks

www.markkoch.net/canam_Time_Line_15.asp?size=#mar04

http://schwartzperformance.com/alienbuild.htm

notice the difference between the chassis between the
“Where it all began, the bare chassis before delivery” shot
And
“Most plumbing from the front is done and Side Pods are mounted”
On the Schwartz site

furthermore, with mark's chasis and the central rod gear change their is an issue with the allignment and sump clearance

how are these issues resolved.

Here are the gear linkage mods:

Here is the sump gaurd added when the crossmember was repaired after taking a hard hit on some uneven roadwork. Gaurd sits at same height as rear crossmember and should allow car to ride up and over most things. Since the sump was not removable in its std mounting due to the rear crossmember being in the way , I didn't worry about running tubes under it. How many times do you really need to remove the sump - if you have a problem that is that bad, just pull the motor.

Sump gaurd was later painted, but the black tubes do not show up in the pics well.

Pics are of mkoch's car. I did all the metal fabrication shown.

Jeffs' is a special chassis made for LS engines. The factory told me they used to make these for US customers but do not make them any more, Mark's one is a standard one with LS to SB engine mount adaptors...

I thought that was the case. Doesn't the LS chassis allow you to use the original LS mounts and hense the OEM exhaust headers, which is helpfull for emmisions testing.

if you have the chassis whith the triangulated engine mounts for the SBC could you still run the OEM factory cast exhausts manifolds, or would they foul on these triangulated engine mounts.

Schimms, congrats on your car it looks great, what chassis set up do you have?
