Well I love America but they have trouble Designing nice car shapes. Perhaps they should have employed an Italian to Design the body.

Carbon Fibre Body, Moly tubing but still Ugly!!

Err, sorry to disagree, but I think that is a gorgeous design and looks nothing like a GTR - more like a Salem or McLaren F1, there is no bubble cockpit for a start

The MT900 looks more like a 2002 Corvette and a Saleeen S7 than a Ultima GTR.

But I have found another car that looks similar to a GTR, or at least tries to... Lawrence Technologies is building a LB6. It's suppose to be a Lemans type road car, bubble top, using SBC engine, and other cool little gadgets. Which includes, button switches on steering wheel, controlling head lights, signal lights, window washer, and other cool stuff.

Here's their website: www.lawrencetechnologies.com/index.htm

I may have to say that this Canadian version looks even worse. At least the MT900 has carbon Fibre body, and a chance of some race pedigree.

I like the body of the MT more than the GTR. I was never fond of the GTR body (the CanAm is a different story). The MT does look like a cross betweeb a Corvette and a Saleen. Some things that I don't like about the body are:

front body catches are external
corvette style rear end and lower front
open wheel wells

At last, I'm not alone.

But the GTR has grown on me a bit. Just don't tell GTRCLIVE, or I'll never live it down.......Doh

You're not alone, Cartwright and Ultimaandy. I'm a big fan of the Can-Am, but not the GTR (relatively speaking). As for the MT900 ... Yum! Yum!

D*mn both the cars at the links below are ugly. I'm sorry but just my opinion. I didn't look to much at the Lawrence one but Mosler does seem to have the FUNDIMENTALS . Lightweight and high power. No inboard coil/spring shocks like the Stealth. The chassis at a glance sounds more sophisticated than the Ultima but I'm waiting for a test from my side of the Atlantic to confirm.(if confirmable) Moslers got bragging points with the Carb body. I wonder if they can supply an illegal diffuser. Both cars are fast. Ultima is more affordable and better looking. At Moslers prices or a little higher I would go for a Stealth B6 (even cuter than the GTR). I'm glad Mosler is selling to the public and perhaps they can make a more shaply body someday. Still looks good thou on the function side of the equation. Thanks for the posting, I never new Mosler made road cars.

How many Stealths have been sold and have you ever seen one on the road. I think the Ultimas prove a point on these points.

I know, I know, the same applys for the Mosler so the comparison is fair. The Ultima has a huge following and track record and that helps immensely. Whats wrong with being rare and difficult to service. (alot for some people I understand)

I'm reading the a Car and Driver article on the Mosler 900 and apparently the creater knows the car is ugly. Heres the horrendous link.

www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddriver/roadtests/2001/March/200103_preview_moslermt900.xml?keywords=mosler

If this link fails you can do a search on the homepage. They say the steering is watery. The latest news on Mosler in C&D is the car will cost just over $200,000.

Cheers from the USA

Well, I must be in the minority here... I love both of them!! I think the Mosler looks fantastic and I have always wanted an Ultima. I prefer the Can-Am but the GTR is equally awesome. Don't understand why it is that when a competetitor comes along everyone has to start slagging it....

This? Ugly? Do me a favour

If you want a truly ugly American exotic...

It's massive intakes are way over done and could seemingly suck small children right off the sidewalk.

As for the MT900 gearbox, it's a Porsche ZF six-speed.

Edited to say the car pictured is a Vector M12 for those wondering.

The Vector's biggest claim to fame is that it appeared in the Sean Connery / Wesley Snipes film "Rising Sun".

Oh come on now... I'll say it. The GTR is ugly. Everyone I show it to agrees... and the reaction is quick like "now there's an ugly car". Perceptions on the other side of the ocean are obviously different.

I also agree that American exotics are ugly. The S7 is probably the most acceptable but still...

I wouldn't go has far has call the gtr ugly, but the canam is better looking in my opinion. I just didn't like how high the rear deck lid on the gtr is. I guess it's function of form. The canam just flows better in my mind.

Ultimajohn: I'm serious. I tried hard to like the GTR but it's not going to happen.

mkoch1: I prefer the canam as well and I think it's because the roof and deck lid of the GTR makes the car look like it's leaning back. Also, no rear view is not pleasant. I know that the teardrop shape plus the high mirrors compensate for this but I still don't like the way it looks.
