Traction Control and Launch Control

I have just placed an order with Ted at Ultima for a rolling Chassis Can-Am and Gail at American Speed is building me a 406 c.i. 720 hp engine for the car.
I was doing some researcha and saw that a few guys have installed Traction & Launch Control units on their Ultimas'.
What are your thoughts and/or concerns?
I thought that the unit would be good for rainy days and great jumps off the lights but I do not know if the unit will hurt the engine. I assum that limited use is fine and using it on the track would be against my religion.

The Audi V8 in my car has traction control and launch control - I agree with Guy that launch control (with the odd Vmax day) is unnecessary - but it could save tyre wear. I don't know how 'kind' or otherwise it is to the engine.
I don't know which manufacturer since I didn't fit it and I'm not at home at the moment - I can report back later if you want....
It's been set up to be programmed with buttons on the steering wheel - how well that's going to work remains to be seen.

I have used the Racelogic T/C system on other vehicles and I am fitting it to my Can-Am. It,s a great system for EFI cars and does no harm to the engine. It simply removes the injection pulse so no fuel in the cylinder to cause damaging lean conditions. It also removes pulses from different cylinders each time so not to upset the balance of the engine.
It can also but used by removing sparks but this way is not as good as you have a charged volume of fuel in the cylinder, so a lot of unburnt fuel is going out of your hot exhaust.
Launch control simply sets a lower rev limit. I never used it to any great effect. All depends what your going to use the car for.

Are you running MSD ignition?
If so, get hold of a jegs or summit catalogue... there's plenty of modules available to interface with the MSD to provide easy launch control or RPM ramping..
T/C is obviously slightly more complex.. and something I know nothing about, so will say no more!

The racelogic boxes sound like they do a good job. Personally I favour the ECUs with integrated traction control as they allow much smoother application by retarding the ignition before cutting the fuel. Also as it's all integrated into the one box you don't have a spiders nest of wires going all over the place. My MegaSquirt ECU has a very limited TC function but boxes from companies like MoTeC have very sophisticated TC built in or as a software option.
