how to clean s/s exhaust

does anyone know how to clean the stainless exhaust system, as I seem to have loads of cooked on oil and other mechanical fluids? Strangely, for what sounded a very kitchen-y question, I seem to remember someone talking about using oven cleaner. Anybody tried to use such products on the shiny bits?

Kleeneze do a stainless steel cleaner but I have only used it in the kitchen. (my exhaust is ceramic coated).

Blue magic has a metal polish that is good for almost all metal surfaces. It comes in a small blue jar and the stuff is absolutely amazing. you buff it on like any other wax (its not a wax its a silicone based polish)... let it dry and then buff it out for a mirror finish. I think its like $3-5 . hope that helps.

We use Mag and Ali cleaner from Mothers. It comes in a tub and works great on most metals including stainless. It also works on the 'blueing' you get on the pipes too.

Dear Kev, thanks for the reply, having used oven cleanner to moderate effect today, I will be in touch once the holiday is past to see if you can offer some advice/product that will get my zorsts shiny. Does anyone know if "gunk" or other such stuff can be used on the frame and block to remove oil/grease/crap without problems? Happy new year to all, hope the crash near Reading is not serious.
