The Gallery

The gallery section is becoming impossible to load and view. The original post asks for links...but pictures follow. Don't get me wrong. I love the pictures...

If just links, or maybe one photo per owner with the link, that might work. But, it won't take much time before this page is mega-giga-terabytes.

You're right though, even with this super quick broadband I have it's still taking a while to load!

Stig? Stig who? What's "Stig"? The loading speed is also a function of the many sites hosting the pictures.

changing the server side script to publish 10 posts per page in sted of the standard 20 posts would fix some of the problems

Maybe its slow to load 'cos of the volume of traffic with all the Ultima perverts trying to view it at the same time.....OH, a slow moment at work, I think I'll just pop into the gallery to see if there's anything new in there....

when you go into the gallery does the post reply link come up for you or do you have to wait for all the photos to load as well?

Can the thread be turned upside down so the latest entry is first to display?
This would speed thing up if you have already seen the earlier entries.

There was a moment on this forum a few weeks back that all threads appeared 'latest first'. It confussed the hell out of me for a while as I automatically scroll down towards then end. That said once you knew and got used to it, it worked really well, like you say having the new stuff at the top saves scrolling so much and waiting for downloads.

Nothing I can do about the server side coding I'm afraid. Spoke to (Petrol)Ted about it but it would affect the whole Gassing Station it seems.

Regarding viewing the posts so that the new ones come first, you can set that in your profile preferences Just set to ascending/decending.

It would help if people kept their images to a reasonable resolution and compression. Not a lot of point in posting anything larger than 800x600 compressed to 50%.

Does anyone have more pictures of Orange Ultimas? I have the two or three from the Factory website (Orange GTR) and one I found from one of the club websites (Orange Can-Am). I am fond of the color and would like more pictures of some Orange Ultima's to add to my collection.

I know of one buildsite, but that car has been under construction for a long time now. www.flash-systems.com/gtr/

I agree it's out of control.

Do like I do! Use Firefox and open it in a new tab, and keep reading another post until it's loaded!!!

I removed all but one of my pics and said see the rest at my website. Hope that helps.

Without this website, I am certain making the decision, and actually building my GTR, would have been considerably more challenging. I know you were kind of half joking, but maybe you will allow me to say, "Thank you for your efforts in keeping this website up to snuff." If/When I ever visit the UK, I hope you will join me for something cold and refreshing.

Actually, I can't stand 'British' beer (bitter as we call it). More of a lager drinker (shandy being a southerner ) which is best served ice cold.

Shame we don't have the climate to make it taste really good! Half my family live in the US (Houston Tx), so one day I may just make the break too....

As for the website, it's a pleasure, though credit must go to PetrolTed who helps make it all possible.
