Oil height in engine

So when I take off the oil filter, apart from the obligatory spill down my sleeve, will the engine oil drain out much ? Just want to trial-fit a remote filter housing.

If the engine has been off for a while then most of the oil will be back in the sump.

The only oil will be in the passage from filter up to rear main bearing.

Hey Roger, which one did you opt for?

I have a Peterson blank off plate (goes where the oil filter is) and a CM (Canton) 8 micron 'super filter' on the way (well in 3 weeks anyway!)

Also looking at a rather snazzy replacement for the oil cooler, similar to ULTIMACZ's approach, though I could even get a replacement radiator with the oil cooling heat exchanger built in which looks nice, but I can't be bothered doing a retrofit to run the oil lines quite that far, so I'll stick with something similar to his...

I found that I didn't get much oil out of the filter mount either, so maybe you will want to tap the sump tray, not so much of a problem on mine as I have a dry sump, so the tray is quite shallow.
