Need advice on Ultima SVA

Gentlemen,

I need some advice on Ultima SVA.

I've been lurking in this forum for a long time, and have decided to build a V12 Ultima. Today I found an engine candidate for my project.

The car is 850CSI M8 5.6 V12 1993 and it has done around 96k miles. Its engine's asking price is 4500eur (3100 pounds). Do you think it's too much? They give the engine three month's warranty, so it should be quite ok.

My question to you:

Are there some limitations regarding the british SVA when considering the Ultima's engine is from 1993 car, as opposed to using an older engine? Low emissions requirement perhaps?

Please answer quickly, as I promised to confirm tomorrow whether I buy the engine or not.

I think a 1993 engine is going to need cats, so this could be more work.

std 380bhp with a strangling ECU and silly 6000rpm rev limit...... fit stiffer cams, M3 springs (for 7000+prm), freeflow exhaust along with a decent ECU and 500bhp should be on the cards.


then again you could always buy the slightly older 5.0L V12 for peanuts and fit twin turbos for much more.

It seems that for SVA I need cats and probably stricter emissions. Nevertheless I bought the engine today, not so much because of the power but because the engine is quite rare and is spot on what I have been looking for.
