mk3 mondeo front discs are vented 300mm diameter and will fit over the rear ultima vertical links/ drive shafts. The locating hole at the center is the same diameter as the scorpio item fitted as standard. They need new wheel stud holes drilling to suit the five stud pattern, use the old discs as patterns.

You can use standard scorpio front calipers as a rear service brake if you reduce the disc diameter to approx 282 mm. For the handbrake use a pair of brembo handbrake calipers with a suitable 6mm alloy adapter plate. the brake pipe needs to be modified to a banjo connection and the service brake is mounted at the rear of the car whilst the handbrakes live on the other lugs. The lugs need some fettling for clearance but nothing radical. remember to check rear wheel to caliper clearance.

Also you can retro fit scorpio cosworth front calipers and discs (278mm dia).

All this apart from the brembo bits are available for peanuts from your local factors. I've been running his configuration including track time with great results. Only just fitted the handbrake calipers (MOT time). It all works and was very cost effective.

I am currently working on the rear conversion using mk3 mondeo 300mm discs. It is still in the early stages. I have altered the PCD on the discs to match the up right.

The next issue will be what 4-pot? They need to mach the Lo Spec 300mm / 4 pot on the front.

Hi eddie... so does this work for you? (I always felt my standard ford rear pad size was too small) I guess this will give more surface area so better stopping power to the rears. Does it work?

Could you "build me" a set to fit? I have limited ability in this area, but would want to give it a try...

a front end upgrade is childs play with the 278mm granada cosworth calipers and discs going straight on. You need calipers with their mounting cradles complete. The discs are available in five stud pattern (Mk1 granada scorpio) so no drilling required. exchange recon calipers are also available over the counter at motor factors. these come up on ebay quite often.


the rear end works a treat but its a 'bit of a job'.
you need

2x 300mm mondeo discs (machined down to 282mm Check your clearance on car)
pair of standard granada front calipers, i used the calipers from the front of my car, after the cosworth front end upgrade.
pair of aeroquip banjo ends
pair of brembo handbrake calipers (try chris at z cars @ hornsea for these zcars.org.uk)
6mm plate to make the handbrake caliper mounting plates
suitable grinder to modify mounting lugs on uprights to achieve caliper clearance.
you can modify the existing handbrake cable by shorteing the outer casing carefully with a dremil.
various long bolts to suit caliper mounting.

result is lovely big brand new vented discs all round for about 500 pounds. Not an easy job granted. Its a bit of a parts bin special but all the more rewarding for it. Cant make a kit up for you. but i can talk you through it.
