I have thought of owning an Ultima for many years now.Previuosly had many Porches/Ferraris and recently a Noble GTO 3R.

I have been looking at the Blue GTR es factory car on here.It would be road use only as i already have two track cars Radical and XTR2.

The Ultima would just be an interesting toy, what do you think, any comments appreciated.

Shall I ???

Given that this is the Ultima forum, it's safe to assume that we'll recommend it

It's more focussed than the Noble (IMHO), but surprisingly practical too. More storage space for starters!

It kind of depends on the car in question as some are more track focussed and some, more road?

It helps when a bunch of guys tell you that you are doing the right thing, makes the purchase that much easier.

A friend of mine was a track racer at various professional levels about 10 years ago. He took my Ultima for a drive and said it was the fastest thing he'd ever driven, including top-end Porsche road and race cars. That was after a whole set of expletives.

Where I live, the Ultima stops traffic and will cause traffic jams if you stop on the side of the road.

Part of the illusion of the Ultima is that it is not a well known car, yet it looks amazing. So all the car enthusiasts are confused by it.

Then when they hear that you built it yourself - that's a bonus!

I would love to own an Ultima someday. I love the concept, and I'm sure the brutal power to weight ratio combination is something to behold. HOWEVER... I saw a glimpse of a new car called the Born S889 that I think is going to push Ultima. It's built with the same general concept as Noble and Ultima but is beautiful and very Italian'esqu in design.

Hello there,my name is Wayne and I am new to this forum and have been involved with building an Ultima for the past 5 years. The car should be on the road in the next few months and I feel that there are some key points that potential builders need to be made aware of.These are only my own personal views you understand, others may and will I am sure, have a totaly different take on things.Firstly, once your mind is made up and you have decided you would like to embark on such a project, set out exactly what you expect to acheive by way of an end result and try your very best to adhere to the plan. The budget set asside will also be an obvious consideration.Set yourself realistic goals in respect of time spent building the car and if things crop up unexpectidly, deal with them, then pick up from where you left of and don't beat yourself up because you feel you may have let yourself down. This project is supposed to be fun,do not let it turn into a chore.Speak to everyone and anyone who knows anything related to Ultimas. The information I have gleaned along the way has been invaluable and has been a definite advantage in producing a top end finished product(not to mention the good freinds I have made along the way).If this all sounds like to much effort already, don't embark on a project of this magnatude as it will surely drain the lifeblood from you,and turn you into a mere husk of whatever you may have once been(only joking)Go on,build it.You know you wan't to.Best thing I have ever been involved with, trouble is,what next?

In the begining, all I had intended to do was build an Ultima with a 450hp motor.Simple.I had a test drive with Richard Marlow in September 2001 and felt the car was capable of doing everything that it said on the tin.As I started to plot my intentions with regards to the build,I decided that the motor that I had intended to use for this project was maybe a little under powered and fancied having something a little more drastic built instead. The plan was a Knight Racing Services 377 all ali small block motor with Kinsler injection and Motec M800 ECU.I had the motor and gearbox built before ordering the car because I did not want to be forced,as many it seems are, into a lesser spec combo once the car is built because of money, impatience or any other unexpected situation occuring.I did not mind the time scale as the dreaming has been enough to spur me on and I only hope the realisation will not be a let down.I have ended up with a 434 motor, spec as follows;Ali Brodix track 1 CNC heads,Ali Dart block(Rocket block spec.)Carillo steel rods,Scat steel crank,JE forged pistons,Olson dry sump,Peterson oil pump,Jessel shaft mounted roller rockers and toothed timeing belt system,Metzier remote electric water pump,Brise mini 85amp alternater,Kinsler three piece magnesium inlet manifold with 2"throtle bodies and Motec M800 ECU + endless other trick bits and bobs. The motor was dyno'd and made 648.9bhp and 616flbs.The remit was 600horse so as you can imagine,I was well pleased. The gearbox was a G50/03 fully equiped with all new gears and a steel LSD.The motor revs to 7500rpm,soft cut limit and shift point at 7200rpm and is geared to do 213mph.The car itself has revised front clip with widened and enlarged grill area and big splitter, louvres in top of wings and large vents at the front of the side pods. The front lights have also been re-worked and look more modern as a result. There are also side splitters similar to the Pagani Zonda. There car has 6 pot AP brakes with 362mm discs all round, peg drive hubs,Dymag one piece magnesium rims, rear wing from a Mclaren F1,two fire extinguishers(one for the cockpit and the other for the motor)front and rear anti roll bars,Ohlins shocks,Eibach springs,Pace alloy radiator, cstom built Pro alloy four gallon dry sump tank,Aim digital dash with lap timer ect.plus a losd of other stuff besides.I hope somone finds this information interesting reading and if there is anything anybody thinks I may be able to help them with, please feel free to ask, many thanks,Wayne.

I am trying to get the car on the road redy for LeMan but hey,I have been waiting for nearly five years now, whats a few more months.I would like to get some miles this summer at least, so fingures crossed EH!I am sorry to say that I do not know how to send pictures on the computer but will see what I can do.After reading the previous post that I sent, I hope I come across O.K. but the way I see it is you can only tell it how it is, and that is how it is.
