Stone-Guard Panels and stuff

Got some black textured samples delivered to-day from a PolyPropylene sheet stockist oooop-Narth!

This stuff is resistant to most things and is used in the automotive industry for all sorts of preformed mouldings

3.5, 4.5 and 6mm thickness to see what can be done with it!
I am looking to use this stuff to mould a-la heat gun to make clip-able stone guards for the battery area, plus maybe look at using it for other protecting panels etc.

Anyone out there any good at welding this stuff? I understand it can be done!

Is it difficult?

My understanding is you need one of those soldering irons with the 2 bars that come round to the tip. You use this to heat the area to be welded and use a strip of the base material as filler rod.

I make it sound so easy!!

A pal of mine is a carpet fitter and has all the required tools for plastic welding and yes,Steve is correct,a filler rod is used much like ali Tig or gas welding.We have had mixed success with repairing damaged motorbike panels and such, but it really does depend on the material being welded,Some work, some don't.On a seperate note;I have been to both Goodwood breakfast club Sundays and seen your car there SteveD,but missed saying hello both times(started walking up just to catch a glimpse of you sitting with the door open talking to somone official like before departing.Was going to below but A/ realised that everyone else would hear me, but you, and B/everyone will be looking at me soon anyway due to car nearly being finished,so enjoy anonimity while I still can).
