starting gremlin

Sport has sat idle for a bit. So fired her up and idled for a minute or two, switched-off and checked for any leaks. Went to restart and:
- turned key to first indent and hit momentary starter button
- only thing that happens is a relay clicks 3 times rapidly under the dash in front of the passenger
- and everything else electrical stops e.g. fuel pumps, a/c fan, voltmeter, warning lights,
- not even horn or emergency flashers work now
- fiddle about with ignition rotary barrel switch and momentary start button to no avail
- I’m sitting there mystified, with key still at first indent, when suddenly dash lights up again
- try to restart and… fine, runs & revs no problem for 10 minutes & all switches test ok, switch-off
- try to restart again – repeat above

serves me right for saying car is only 2 jobs away from being perfect. And the car’s done 4000 miles in my hands with no electrical gremlins or faults at all. This explains why I don’t know where the fuse box is– where is it ?
Any ideas ?

Sounds like the ignition switch has seen better days.
Simple and relatively cheap fix.

If the fuse box is in the same place as the GTR, it should be behind the left hand alloy panel under the front clip...

i.e. the one behind the lefthand wheel, held in by 4 hex headed screws...

well, at least it is on the GTR...

This sounds like a discharged battery..esp the clicking of relays.
If it's been sitting round for a while - the first start probably took the remaining juice out.

Also try if battery clamps are good.
