World Products is working on an improved LS7 based engine. They currently have the block, heads, and a rotating assembly available. They built it to accept SBC or LS7 mounts (but probably not transmissions). There's something I like about a company that designs and casts their own blocks.

Has anyone ever used their products?

I have never heard anything bad about them and they have some interesting engines like the 600 hp 454 CI aluminum small block.

By the time I have my future Can-Am ready for an engine, I'm sure they will have the turnkey package available. But at only $13k now, maybe the Chevy factory LS7 engine is best.

yeah, that Warhawk setup looks nice. I have heard about it for a while, not sure if it is ready of sale yet. But unless something else comes along in the next couple years before I can build my Can Am, it is what I am basing my engine off of. Huge power potential, and cheaper than the C5R block.

I'm sitting on the fence with this.

My thoughts are that anybody can cast a pretty crude heavy aluminium block and it is heavy compared to lsx engines. They obviously want the capacity and have achieved it. Why did GM spend so much money on the lsx heirachy when they could have made something like the warhawk? the GM block is really good and can have capacity increases. GM liners seem to be the weak link but at least the blocks are cheap to replace if need be.

I'm more inclined to use the darton MID block as imo it's removable liners are a great idea, not to mention how strong they are etc. That said, I'm not against the warhawk block but I'd rather increase capacity with boost and good liners etc.

Oh, what intakes will suit the tall deck warhawk, only mine afaik and I've outflowed a ported Fast

Not available yet. I've seen the castings in person, look a little heavy and crude as mentioned above.

I've got a 427 aluminum block world products motor. Lets see, besides putting in the wrong valve springs, not machining the valves correctly, using an 8000rpm cam in a motor with a 6000 rpm redline, and...

Building a motor that will push all the oil in the head faster than it will flow back to the pan aka starve at high RPM's they build great products.

We have used several of the World Products blocks, and they have been fine. The engine assemblies we have stripped (about six that we've bought over the last couple of years for the parts) have all had HUGE bearing clearances, in the .004 to .005" range, which would cause major oil flow & pressure problems. You could empty the oil pan is less than 10 seconds with clearances like that.
We look on assembled engines & short blocks as 'all of the parts you need conveniently shipped in a block.'
Like I said though, the blocks seem to be fine.

hese engines aren't just havey castings boosted! they take on problems that tuners found with the C5R racing blocks. one of the major problems was balloning of the liners at high boost levels. i think the liner thickness of the C5r was 0.077 inch wereas the LSx has .100 inch. also the LSX has a massive 0.300 of ally bhind the liner to! this should make for a very strong block!

also the heads will allow to option ot run 6 head blots per cylinder. this should get rid of any chance of head lift. the big guys in the states (like wheel to wheel) are running about 30psi and are gettting a lot of blow by and presuriesd water systems thanks to the heads lifting! this should solve that and they are said to out flow ported LS7 head out the box!!!!

also if you where propear to bore the liners ou slightly, and stick a 4.5inch strocker crank in there then you could be looking at a 495cubic inch LSx enigne acording to the builders! now thats big for a small block!

and the block isn't that much more than a LS7 block. so this is really looking like a god package. and when prices come down a bit, and builders start using them and maybe even building creat engine, there will be some very intresting stuff using these blocks and head.

oh and did i mention it can be orderd with SBC mounting points!??

thanks Chris.

PS this is the first really aftermarket block (excluding the darton stuff which uses stock blocks and machines them) for the LSx engines. and i hope there are more that come out! one thing for sure is this thing will shake the LSX and SBC world!

Cheers Chris but I reckon head lift is caused by detonation not cylinder pressures which should push the piston downwards. I like the sound of a 6 bolt fixture though, that would be neat. Personally the capacity hike doesn't interest me but it'll appeal to n/a lovers. The World heads may make more total flow but I'd be surprised if they were better overall then the ls7 items. Problem here is that real proof is impossible to find but my ls7 heads are excellent or appear so.

The more meat you put inside the block the less room you have for coolant flow, maybe this isn't a problem but it's a consideration. They made changes to the ls2 block floor and doubts were raised. I'd expect a new block from GM in a short while

This is why I'm sitting on the fence For now, I like the darton MID.

edited to add, as you're near me why not drop over in about 10 days. I'll have some interesting stuff you'd like to see.

Thanks for the Info everyone.

It sounds like they are second rate at best. It's great to be able to get that kind of info before a purchase.

Thanks again!
