1st time - scary ?

What was it like the first time you fired up your Ultima and took it around the block ? I'm hearing that it's pretty scary with around 500+ BHP in the back. No pussy cat. How soon do you get used to it ? Or do you ?

I guess LuckyP is going to find out soon enough if his SVA is in the next few days ????

I'll let you know. After all one has to fill up the tanks for an SVA and my nearest station is, well, miles away, right?

I thought about that one for the whole three years of my build. Only ever having sat in one without moving an inch before leaves you with a lot of questions. But put your mind at rest, you will probably be surprised how easy it is to drive "a pussy cat". That is only true when using a few percent of the total throttle travel though so be careful it soon turns into a "tiger" if you want it too.

To be honest, it's only as scary as you want to make it. They're pretty docile (until provoked ) but it's definitely a bit nerve wracking taking that first drive

A trackday weekend will go along way in settling those nerves and understanding a great deal more about the car.

One of the first times I went out, I had a friend in the car, needless to say I though, ok lets have a little fun and get a few squeals...


Down went the foot...


The car's progression from pussycat to tiger took about 1 second, and happened while passing a tractor on a narrow 2 lane road...


The resulting, somewhat panicked & violent, back and forth sideways 'fun' that ensued for the next 3 or 4 seconds left me with a thought that I needed an LSD plus a healthier respect for the the throttle, not to mention a friend who swore they'd never set foot in the car again...!

I too approched my first drive with some trepidation but i have to admit it was awsome even now after 6000 miles it still makes me grin like a idiot when i squeeze the peddle down !!! a few tips never drive it when you a knackered or pissed off avoid the rain and never add up you fuel bill simon

I've had my 360bhp Ultima Sport for 18 months, but just now I took it for an hour and a half back-road blast and I can say that as 4th gear rushes on through the 4000rpm zone it still thrills and slightly scares me (at least on the road).
