Understeering

Before I was black flagged at Donnington on Friday in my Sport for being too noisy, I managed to complete 6 laps.

One thing i noticed was when pushing around the corners the rear was planted but the front was approaching its limit (tyre squeal).

Looks like i need more front end grip.

The front tyres are soft compound Yoko's, the rears are a harder compound.

Would putting another 1 or 2 degrees of neg camber on the front wheels help - has anyone else had a similar problem?

The set up at the moment is standard factory.

i have a similar problem on my Mr2

in the corner i would try and plant the back wheels and put the power on and the car would then understear

would suggest trying to carry more speed through the corner with less acceletation

although i never manager to do it allways planted the accellerator on the APEX much more grin factor

I had the pleasure of doing a trackday at Elvington, Nr York yesterday. This is an airfield venue with a very grippy predominately concrete surface. The tyres worked hard but I too suffered from notable understeer and lots of power oversteer which was fantastic fun and all very controllable. The cost, well running wide on a couple of corners and something like 2mm of rubber shaved off each tyre. Overall the tyre wear was even across the tyres and also front to back. These characteristics may be down to the mid-engined layout but any advice would also be appreciated.

i found fitting softer front spring made a big differance developed much more front grip infact i can unsettle the back of the car quite easily on turn in .simon
