FAMILIES DAY
RAF Marham's Families Day is on 27 July 2006 this year.
It is an annual event that raises money for Marham's Charities and Appeals - attendance is restricted to RAF Marham personnel and their families, but it is also open (free of charge) to others who either put on, or contribute to the sideshows.
One of the sideshows (unsurprisingly helped along by MG Mark) is what you might term "nice cars" - last year there was a mix of a couple of dozen cars - a few Ferraris, Triumphs, Cobra replicas and assorted others nice cars, both modern and classic.
There's no need to sit by your car unless you wish to, as you can park, lock up and simply go off and enjoy the day.
Aside from a wide variety of the village/town fete type stalls and sideshows, there is a 4-6 hour flying display of past and current aircraft.
This year will also be the very last occasion that the Canberra (operated by 39 Squadron at RAF Marham) will be flown by the RAF, before it is finally retired after over 50 years service.
It is a weekday, which perhaps involves taking a day off work, but if you like watching good flying displays without queueing for hours to get into/out of the event, and seeing stalls, static and flying displays without peering over the heads of everyone in front, and not walking miles to find a loo or a burger, all in a relaxed atmosphere, it is a brilliant day out!
The usual personal and vehicle details (full name, address, date and place of birth, vehicle type and registration number) will be needed to access RAF Marham and be directed to the right place, which can be passed to either me or MG Mark.
I will be up for this in the Ultima! Sounds like a good, relaxing day out!
