Richard has my car for the weekend!!!

It's had it's safety check and shocks changed. A few other factory special tweaks.

I've asked him to get stuck in traffic over the weekend to test the engine temp.

Can't wait to see what he thinks of it.

Pick it up Monday night then it's spoiler on, camera in, and a few evenings of testing before Sunday's Cannonball.

I'll try and post on PH whilst I'm away - to give you guys all the juicy gossip.

Oh, I have a supplier here at work who will be doing a stone chip protector. Once he has a template from my car he'll be offering it for sale.

From experience - what are the hi impact areas in need of vinyl attention??

Front Clip - All leading edges above and below the rad intake.

Side Pods - Back end leading edge if you don't have the Reverie CF bits.

I have paint over GRP, so it's particularly bad when a stone gets you.

I saw your car at the factory yesterday. It looks stunning. By far the best dash layout I have seen! Every one there seemed most impressed.

Be interested also to hear what Richard makes of running temps, espeically in this weather, not there's a problem

I often wonder if Ted and Co ever decide to adopt ideas from builders. They must see all sorts.
I know they have a tried and tested package but, there comes a point when you have to adapt and move forward. Personally, I think a dash like yours Pete, would sell more cars.

I see your lamp covers are taped on your profile - do you think that covering them with the film might be a good idea as long as it's optically pure?

Gary - thanks for the complements. For me, and I know it's all very personal, the dash is the only thing on the car I wanted to change.

It just seems logical (to me) to utilise the gap straight infront of you for your main instruments. Throw in a little leather and carbon, and hey presto, a dash that ties in the luggage covers and allows the 4 rather natty Ultima dials to fit above the switches and between ICE and binacle.

I still can't get over the pi55 poor ride I had with the dodgy dampers. I hope the car will be transformed come Monday.

One thing I did mess up was the amount of bush grease. I used only two sachets for the whole car - virtually every one was creaking. Factory sorting.

Oh yeah also my accelerator cable routing was too close to the exhaust for factory's liking.

Great job on the dash installation I had mulled over the idea of mounting the OE instruments centred on the wheel, can you tell how/ where instrument housing was made ?

It might help, you'd probably be best leaving them undone though, in case you need to pull the cover off for some reason...

Well,

Modellers foam to create the shape. Then when happy with it, it was covered with an off cut from the heat shield mat. Contact adhesive the silvered foil face down. This then left the fibre glass upmost which was resined into shape sith the odd snip of the cloth around the wings that wrap over the OE dash. Once dry pull out the foam, sand, sand and sand again til it fits flush with top and front of dash. The cover with leather. Front face is ali with a thin carbon cover.

Pretty clever of you to sink the pod for the stalks into the dash to keep spacing correct.

The idea all all along has been to no make any modifications to any moving parts or structure. All the solid bits are a proven formula ......it was the fluffy bits I thought I could 'improve'.

As you point out, to keep a workable 'knuckle gap' between wheel rim and stalk arms (without lengthening the s/c) the stalks had to be recessed into the dash. The stalks are bolted to the upper s/c bush mount plate, neccessary as the slip rings and sprung contacts for the centre horn push have to be mm perfect.

Yeah, just thought recessing the levers was the lesser of two evils.

Yep - ready for collection tonight. Richard got on OK with it. In 3/4 hour of traffic it reached 95 - 100 C (that is lower than I found).

He did experience a 'glitch' around 2000rpm. Possibly a flat spot???

So - I'm off after work to collect......excited?...NOT MUCH!!!!!
