I've noticed a while ago that there's a few degrees of play in the steering column, then I spotted an access cap on the rack, so I was wondering if there is a way to tighten things up a bit -in order to get rid of the play?

Funny you should mention that. In preparation for the next trackday I have noticed the play in mine.

I had it mentioned to me that one could tighten up a bolt under the cap, so I might have a look on the weekend... though I might give the factory a call to see what they say...

The factory can give you an instruction sheet on this. There are two adjustments you can make, via the top nut and front dial. Jack up the front wheels before adjustment. Easy job though.

Email from factory (Ted) confirms that GTR and Canam are normally returned to manufacturer for adjustment using shims. Thats a bummer for me as I use the car as a daily driver and dont want to have the car off the road before the upcoming trackdays.

Earlier racks were adjustable. That's progress I suppose.
