Air-Con fitting advice please
Discussion
Hi Guys,
In the process of fitting the base plate, heat/aircon unit and pipes today...and then....hmmmm...
How much room is there under the dash? - I dunno, had a funny five mins...couln't find any reference to the position in the factory instructions.....went mad and fitted the base plate 180mm back from the chassis rail (square one) and pretty close to the steering bracket (60mm)...and then...found and read the hand-drawn sketch in the packaging that shows 170mm from the front (round) dash-tube and 65mm from the stearing column
Doh!
Don't know how tight the dash area will be on body prefit, or of I have enough room for the wiper motor when I get it!
Is I in trouble?
Ref the sensor unit, again I looked, looked again and decided that the copper pipe should be bent back behind the lower air-con pipe nut and the squirley-bit clamped to the copper pipe with clip and then covered with that horrible sticky stuff. Didn't look enough, so I used some dynomat (got similar tarry stuff on one side) and covered all the holes where the pipes come out of the unit and also masked both pipes as they are fairly close to the air hole where the fan is (silverside to the hole)....did the same with some heat insulating material (covered the holes in the casing)where the heater pipes come out of the box.
Was this unnecessary? or prudent? or plain wrong!
sorry....am getting old ...impatient...Testy!....and far tooo hot in the garage!!!
