My brother & I went in April, and it was great. It's on again 2/3 Sep, see:

The upsides are:
+ no armco to hit
+ 4 miles of track means you don't need to tailgate which risks collisions & stonechips
+ vmax is possible on the straight
+ £40 is a bargain for 2 hours
+ testing corners, with loads of runoff, where I practised my spinning
+ you can have two glider flights for £25 too
+ relaxed day with the Armed forces providing good catering

The downsides are:
- if you go out in an early session and follow a car too close, you will face a £300 nose respray

I'm going to implement a nose protection strip. At worst this will be duct tape over cardboard for the vertical face of the car. But I don't want an inadvertent windscreen protection strip at 160mph. Nor do I want the tape to peel off what remains of the paint. So I might spend another 5 seconds thinking of an improvement. Any ideas ?

Duct tape is pretty good stuff, I would be surprised if it will come off! I used loads at Elvington, along with the protection film I already had things worked out well (only a few minor chips).

Someone I went off-roading with once, gaffa tape thick plastic sheet (might of been damp proof course) to the sides of his motor to protect it from the brambles during green lane trips. People thought it was some sort of prototype in disguise!

That looks great. Will keep it on the Ultima's front and side skirts all the time. AutoCar will take Spy shots and put it on their website as the new disguised 'hover car'.

I'd be worried about 'duct' tape damaging the paint on removal, it's pretty sticky stuff, don't even think about using that nasty brown plastic packing tape.

I had no problems with the normal tan coloured 'masking' tape, though I wasn't trying to secure any cardboard strips, it was all still firmly attached, even after a 180mph run.

Since my car needs a respray anyway, courtsey of the previous RAF Marham day, I may as well come, and just use masking tape to keep the worst of the damage at bay.

Also, I got numerous chips on the trailing edge of the engine bay side pod vents.
