Tie rods or bushes?
Discussion
Just finalising the details on my order form...
Im quite keen on going for full tie-rod setup... but note many of you guys have stuck with the 'uprated bushes'.
Any suggestions or reccomendations?
are the rose joints noteably noisier? im going for a road type car, its just the quality engineering thing that makes me desire the rose joints...
thansk in advance!

It's probably worth asking Ted at the factory for his views. When I ordered my car way back in 1998 Ted reckoned the rose joint set up was probably too noisy and uncomfortable for regular road use but was the best option for regular track days etc. It depends what you want and are prepared to put up with!
I travelled as a passenger in G-Mans ultima last year at Le Mans and he has full RJ suspension. It wasn't the power of the motor that I found impressive so much as the ride quality, handling and noise in the cabin being at a minimum. I have built my car using bushes as recommended by most but after said experience will be looking at them should the bushed suspension not be up to expectation. Oh yeh, and by the way, G-Mans car was very very fast (just not fast enough)
and of course, it's not black.

Well thats finally done it....
Went to ultima today and put my money down on the first 10 stages of the build... woohoo!!
cant wait to actually get it now!
I spoke to Ted about the tie rods, and he said the were primarily for track-use (re slicks)..
but they were actually a bit quieter than bushes?!... so that was me decided...
tie rods on order too!
thanks for youre help peeps..

Mmm, the factory advised me that the bushes were significantly quieter when I was spec-ing my build a few years ago. I wanted to go non-bush but in the end took their advice. I wish I had gone non-bushed!

Congrats. Gra, what have you ordered, GTR or CanAm?
No question, GTR! (and it will be BLACK) ;-)
I cant really believe there is much difference in noise between bushes or rj's?
surely it depends on the quality of the rj? better tolerances etc - less noise..
I reckon for the price these must be pretty good quality!

Well done son! (on both counts), I can just about remember when I first placed my order and am only now able to reflect on the sheer intensity of the situation after some 5 years! Don't know how long you estimate your build time but you must never loose faith. As I said previously, the RJ suspension (as a passenger) did not seem noticeably detrimental ride quality/noise wise and as theory would have it, due to the lack of a compliant bush and the utilization of a near as damn it solid bearing (RJ) is by it's own nature going to send tyre/road noise straight through the wishbones and chassis and thus, into the cockpit. I don't think that you will have a problem, W.
