My GTR has got a LS6 engine. The electric throttle and intake manifold have been inverted 180degr. due to the lack of space towards the bulkhead. No supercharger, turbo or intercooling....installed....Currently I´m using a K&N Filter, which is located above the intake manifold towards the bulkhead by using a 180 degr. elbow going from the throttle upwards and a 30cm long tube to extend....[pic] www.elescon.com/GTR_intake.jpg [/pic]

There are three major probs with this setup. 1st, there´s only warm to hot air for the Filter to take so very bad in terms of power... 2nd the elbow which I have now was just a interim solution, it has the diameter needed, but has a kink so bad in respective to undisturbed flow...3rd the used k&n seems to be much to small...

Has anyone a LS Engine with the same setup ? Which air cleaner do you use, how did you solve the problem with aspirating warm/hot air ? Do you use a ram air system......how did you solve the 180 degr. turn....?

I´m thankful for any advice, and pics of solutions....

Lutz

P.S. How did you all deal with the enormous heat produced by engine, exhaust, cats...

You better take it personal, they all hate you and tries to ignore your questions

I Have one K&N outside each tank in the side vents. Works fine but results in kind of long intake tube.

I think a special moulded intake duct (in carbon fiber) that goes straight from the intake on the roof and back to you throttle body would look very nice and would for sure be very effective. you could use a "boxed" filter. Maybe something like this?

Here ya go....The top one is Jeff Schwartz's car. He closed in the scoop on the rear clip, the rubber on the airbox seals to that.

there is an intake called the Harrop (i think) that would let you run the intakes to both side pods.

it is exspensive at about $3,500 AU but should flow better than any intake for the LSx engines.

i will try and get a link for you all.

Chris.

Hey crafty...

The "jeff schwartz"-Version won´t fit my space...because where he out his air box, I got my muffler... see www.elescon.com/GTR_intake.jpg
But the pics below are very nice...looks like carbon....nice engine top cover and a full carbon 180 degr. intake hose...whose is this, yours ?? Did you manufacture it or where can I get it..... ???? This looks great... Is it a customized ram air box ??? How does a air box got to be ? Should it be 100% dense, letting air nowhere else than into the filter or is there a little space for air to get away...I´m asking, because, both of the airboxes on your pics are without top...

Lutz,

I think the second car is one built in OZ by a company called "GT40 Australia" - it is right hand drive.

The third car was in the states and left hand drive, but seems to have the same setup. mwww.corvettes-of-westchester.com/gtr.htm

It looks to me like they have cut the top of their box to match the profile of the underside of the clip. I imagine they had rubber around the top and it seals to the inside of the clip.

Oh yeah, forget the harrop, it's an 8 throttle body intake system, it will not fit with your headers.

The easiest solution is to copy the second car's solution in alloy.

how about the victor junior intake for the LS engines?????

you could then use an ellbow (facing one of the side pods) and run a conventional thrttle body and run the filter in one of the side pods???

the Victor (or GM performance's own carb style intake) is said to push the power up the RPM band a bit (shorter runner length) but that wouldn't be a probelm for strokers!

thanks Chris.

Hi Lutz

Here is the link to the Victor Jnr manifold. It's the third one down the page.

Hey Dave. Thanks, but there seems to be a misunderstanding...I´m not looking for a manifold...and the one you showed, is for carburetors, I have an injector LS6...Or did I find the wrong pic ? What I´m looking for is the carbon fibre construction like on craftys pics shown in the begining of this thread,..

the victor can be converted (think it has injetor bungs on it, and some companies have them already done with injectors and stuff i think)to injection.

it will make more power than any of the stock LSx manifolds, as it has shorted runner length, but might not make as much down low! also with an elbow you can have the intake facing any way you wanted.
