I just went to visit my baby over at the upholsterers. They have finished one seat and the dash cover. Black napa leather on the sides of the seat and the dash - smooooooooooth as a baby's. The centre of the seats is alacontra with a diamond pattern single stitching, all the other stitching in the leather is double stitching, all the stitching is in red red.... it looks awesome...I know I hinted about this before, but I cant hold my excitement in so I had to have a posting.

The dash panel with the gauges in it is currently in black perspex... gonna change that to CF later.

They are starting on the rollcage now... more smooth black leather with yummy red stitching.. Ive got red Sparco harnesses to go with it, im taking the harnesses over tomorrow so they can do the rear bulkhead... they are gonna put a flat panel over the rollcage so they need to belts to make sure I can get at the bolts later. They are gonna put dynamat and insulation behind the bulkhead, the front of the bulkead will be leather - tossing up on whether to do the diamond pattern there too. Dynamat and black carpet on the floors under the seats only.

The guy that does the work does a lot of Ferraris, Lambos etc... the GTR has been the focus of attention of everyone that goes in or near the workshop. The big debate is whether I will get it through rego here.... I have checked every single regulation and cant see anything that doesnt pass, the only problem may be that they dont LIKE the idea of a racing car on the road, but it passes all the regs so I cant see them having a leg to stand on. I know of a couple of Caterams and a couple of Cobra replicas so I have something to point at and scream "unfair". If I get stuck I may need some help from you guys, Im thinking a letter with copies of rego documents (with COPY stamped all over it) from owners of GTRs in different countries would help.

Upholstery will be done late next week.. can wait to get the car back, not looking forward to the bill, but he knows there's be lots of magazine spreads so hes gonna do me a deal.

Its getting dangerously close to be able to start her up, exhaust pieces will be here next week....

I will get some photos soon... like as soon as I can find my camera. Im beside myself with excitement at the moment... yippeeee!!

Hi crafty. I really know what you´re talking about. As you may know, I also did a big leathering-orgy in my GTR. And the "before" "after" effect is fantastic. The car will have a lot more of a high-class appearance, without losing its´ racing look..And it takes away the "ahh, it´s (just) a kit car"-look some people often mention....
Please post some pics, when ready, really like to see their work !
