guys, have any of you had a similar experience to this.
driving home from work last night i was flashed by a Gatso (definate) on the opposite side of the road. i was exceeding the speed limit.
Questions are
1. i dont think these cameras are legal/calibrated for the opposite (oncoming) side of the road, does anyone know for sure.
2. if i do receive a NIP i will contest it and ask for pohotographic evidence and a copy of the camera calibration certificate, has any one had any success in getting a copy of the certificate.
any other comments are welcome apart from those that tell me the speed limits are there for a reason etc etc. I KNOW!

I have triggered a few Gatso cameras when travelling towards them (usually only 1 flash seen) and have so far not had the misfortune to receive an NIP. They may have been dummy cameras or not had any film left, but could also be that they don't bother with pursuing those caught approaching from the front?? It could also depend on whether there were lines marked on your side of the road, as these are supposedly used to corroborate the speed determined by the radar by comparing your position on the road in the two separate photos taken.
Either way, just sit tight and hope that no NIP lands in your postbox in the next 14 days!

The one near my village does this sometimes, it's nothing to worry about.

Dave, I am well impressed I have to say! I would love to have my own village as the parking in the close that I live in has become unbearable of late.
This is GTWayne here on Clives 'puter, thought I had best come clean (a figure of speech, not a declaration you understand)
Also, I have been snapped many times whilst approaching a particular camera situated near the entrance to the Ind. Est. where I rent my yard and have had no legal proceedings instigated as a result. It is the only camera that I think is in a good place as when I exit the estate it slows the oncoming traffic and gives me a better chance to pull out in time (except when some crazy tw*t is lamping it along in the opposite direction because they know that although flashed by the camerra, from the front they will be safe?).

of course, you do realise that if i dont get a NIP in the next couple of weeks, then i have found a new game to play with gatsos while out and about around the midlands on my uneventful late shifts.

Wayne- you would think that Dave would be able to do something about that camera if it's close to 'his' village, he must have some sway with the local council being a village owner.
