My Sport sold in 36 hours. After 2 years, 6000 miles and several track days it lost all of 7% in depreciation.
Sad now. It is unlikely that I have such a beautiful car again.
Drove an impreza turbo hard down the usual Ultima friday route and boy, it feels so dull. Crap brakes too.
Thank-you for the support and tech-advice, made it possible.

regards
Roger.
PS - Mind you there's always that orange GTR.

wouldnt feel quite so dull if you spent 1/5th of Ulti budget on Scooby upgrade..! - Think you will find 400/400 power sufficient.. - though 600bhp is available at a price

I'm in a good position to compare. Ultima cost me ~£2k in depreciation over 2 years. My same-plate scooby lost a little less than that. Other running costs were on a par over the same period (same insurance, cheaper servicing on ultima although more frequent, more expensive fuel consumption). So I think that means my Ultima budget was exceeded by even my aged but nicley modded scoob, and the experience isn't really comparable, although both great fun.

400 bhp in a scoob would be a hoot. not sure I'd have the self control. well, I wouldn't.

Roger.

Ever since Jap motors have been available with decent power I have thought to myself that I should get one but it is only the power that appeals to me, I do not like any other aspect of them. Why is this? Coincidentally, a pal of mine is of to the States next year and will be selling his 360 horse tastefully modified and imported Evo 8 for not a lot of dough and I am very tempted just to see if it might grow on me, I will have to see eh?

Imprezas are great, but they're not great fun, even modified, imo.

Very 1 dimensional, even with 400hp, driving one is like playing a video game.

Just my view after owning 2.

I've had 2 Subaru Impreza's too...their drive is very good also for the money, but get boring and nowadays its a car I don't want to be seen in?
I also had 6 Nissan Sunny(pulsar) GTI-R 4wd with around 280hp those cars did more to me to be honest but where lowered and tuned almost all of them...
That sort Japaneze cars are fun and thats it?
The BMW Z3 M coupe I have(this is my third and a Z3 M roadster) is much faster way more fun and feels more one with you...
Also I've had 5 BMW E30 M3 cars most where tuned, even a Alpina B6S M3 and one E30 M3 with a E36 320hp engine in it and thats real fun! there are 2 on sale in Germany with M5 engine's in it one with a 3.5 M5 and 315hp and one special with a 3.8 M5 and tuned to 370hp in a old E30 M3 so that way you have a Icon classic sportscar with fast "modern" techniek...now thats fun! and I can tell I had a few in my carlife also a E30(320i) with a 340hp M5 enginehehe but that chassis was not realy up to the power that way the M3 E30 chassis is much better...

well ive got a modded scooby and spyder, both fantastic cars for different occasions. And congratuations on quick sale of the Sport, but more importantly on curing your ultima addiction, I got my spyder simply because someone needed a quick sale and with the thought to trade on, its been a while now but I really am not able to give it up just now....which must mean its about to hit the classifieds if reading some previous qotes from some of the forum is to be believed.....hehehe

Excuse the of topicness for a moment but I would just like to say that all this talk of BM's is getting my enthusiasm up as I have both a supercharged 540 and a 4.0ltr V8 powered E36 at my disposal but as the GTW is so close to being finished my interest has indeed wained a little as a result.
