Who is going to try the Topgear track?
Discussion
This is tempting, are the factory up for it or any individuals?

Is that what he was hinting at in some of the recent posts?
Hello Phil, how are you?
I did not mean to give the impression that I would like to see the GTW go round the TG track and was just saying that I was lucky enough to attend the filming of an episode (the one with the aquatic Herald etc.) earlier this year and when folk were queuing to speak to the long fella, I was tempted to get in line and talk Ultima and tracks and stuff but once there, realised that they would not be interested, to off the wall and not mainstream enough to be interesting to the audience as a whole (we are obviously biased on the mater!).This latest development however is a different kettle of fish and I would love to have a go at it although I do feel that maybe a more capable pilot than I would be necessary to fully realise the true potential of the GTW. If anything looks like it may happen, you will all know.
P.S. I very nearly forgot to say BLACK IS BOSS!

Clarkson seems to love Ultimas. Would be good to see a factory one go round, although I can imagine the cost to the factory would be high, judging by how TG seem to treat the cars.
This option of going on the track is open to the driver/owner, so no risk of it being ragged by the TG team. But would afford a good driver the chance to drive the circuit and put up a time. I may have a go but just cos its nearby, and providing noise is not an issue.

I think Wayne is right, they are much more likelly to want to go for a more mainstream car than a relativelly rare one, that only a dedicated few love.
Thats why I think they are more likelly to be interested in Gmans red one.

Since when has a Westfield Hyabusa on Kuhmo tyres become mainstream? And who are the "they"?
Come on guys, its just a chance to drive the TG circuit and have some instruction. Its just a PHeaders challenge after all.
Plans have driver training on the circuit as a standard offering so its just a chance to drive and get instruction. But it is also a chance for an Ultima to take to the TG track without being on TG which lets face it will NEVER happen!
Just returned from Brands - the Grand Prix Circuit was open for a track day. Blo0dy brilliant. I was just spectating, but as soon as the Ultima is back on the road, I'm up for some proper trackdays.
This one's a no brainer. All you guys with cars on the road get yourself down to Dunsfold. How does that 1.30 stack up against the stig's runs? What car has he driven that goes 1.30ish?
Pete

I have to agree Lucky, trackdaya every time - straight line high speed runs just don't interest me. Brands GP is a problem for me - noise - and there aren't many during the year. I have a circuit booking for next year on the revised Spa circuit if they finish it in time. And the Ring as well on the same trip
You asked about TG Stig times... Here they are.

Was the westfield red, cause that would explain why they used it

But you are still saying "they". Who are "they"? Please tell me who decides the cars - and colours - that get on the course?

I think peeps are getting confused between the TG show - where 'they' (producers, presenters, marketeers, ?manfactures? etc) have a say on what gets on the telly, and this event that is being muted here, where it seems only the colour of your money (not the colour of your car) dictates if name gets down.
One thing is for sure, it certainly can't hurt the chances of getting TG to consider the car worthy of a spot on the show if they see (or even hear of) a well powered car, being driven with gusto around the track. Dare I say that it might even pay for it to be one of those 'wrong' colours - banana or tomato - well JC has no taste, does he?
Lucky

Thanks Lucky, at least someone else is READING the original item! Thats what I was getting at.
Yes, this is NOTHING to do with the TG show. Its just a chance to drive the circuit with a slight competitive edge ie a PH Challenge. BUT, if the factory were to enter and put up a winning time with a road going production version, then ....
