LS engine Drive by Wire

Before I drop the cabin on I would like to resolve the Accelerator connection problem. I have been told to install the Monaro/GTO pedal assembly but this would make the Ultima assembly redundant.
I would prefer to use the pedal already provided if possible. I dont want to use a cable as I like the idea of the drive by wire.
Any advice ?

To Bob,
I can understand you wanting to keep the drive by wire pedal design. It realy is a simple design that makes it easy to have traction control, launch control and cruse control and all the other things that the engine management has with nice smooth performance as well.
These are the things that I would want
Fail safe design –
do not want the design to fail and leave you with wide open throttle. This is something that I hope the Monaro design will have taken into account. I no that ford reduced the risks associated with this in the BA falcon by having two potentiometers in parallel so that should one of them fail you only end up with half throttle instead of full throttle. I think that this is also part of the reason why the pedals are hung from above as it also means that there is les chance of dirt getting into the electronic sensors as they are mounted above your shoes
Some form of return spring on the pedal to get in to return back to the home position. You might be able to get this out of the Monaro unit.
Ability to easily adjust pedal height in relation to the brake pedal height and position
Might want to be able to adjust the ratio or rate at which the accelerator pedal affects the input to eh computer, this might be able to be done electronically
A stop adjustment that goes through to act on the pedal, so that when you floor it – the pedal makes contact with a hard stop, not some hard part of the electronic sensor, otherwise this sensor will likely brake.
That’s about all I can think of over my lunch brake, Ill try and give you a call later. You seemed to be out or busy before.
I had another section that I had written up explaining the electronics and block diagram of the by wire throttle, but I seem to have lost it. The crux of it is a “servo circuit” which uses a differential amplifier with negative gain on the output of the electronic throttle to allow a cancellation of the pedal input signal.
Also as a source of inspiration you might like to have a look at these, I think the machine shop across the road from your work could make up the required parts to make these.

Found this factory Five GTM build that appears to be using the drive by wire throttle body, Might be worth a look if you are after info.

Why not? If you made the cable short and mounted the potentiometer somewhere convenient it would solve many problems.
