It's probably not as bad as it looks, but I think all the body panels are beyond redemption, the front screen is shattered, but I don't see any branches that have penetrated to the chassis, so I' hoping it is "just" a new body, but as I said, the factory is the only real repair centre. You should have heard the voice at the other end of the phone at the garage suggested local repair centre as I tried to describe what sort of car it was, strangely they said it might be better to get back in contact with the insurers!
My commiserations Tim, that is just not fair. You seem to be handling it quite well. Look at it this way, if the car had not been the correct colour from the word go, it may well have sustained more damage and been a complete write off! Maybe God has been a little more lenient because the car was the right hue. Seriously though mate, I feel gutted for you

Yeah... that sucks big time. My garage is on the waterfront, we've just come out of typhoon season and I was shit scared the water would rise too far. It hasnt flooded there for many years, but she was up on stands on the worst days, just in case.
Maybe God was jealous 'cos He's not allowed to drive a black one?

Sorry mate. Its a shame insurance co wil not just give a decent payout and allow you to fit a new body yourself. I am sure your hourly rate would be less than garage. Chance to build again.
The insurance might make an offer once they get the estimate from the factory, but I'd rather have my car back, repaired by the factory, as I haven't got the time available at the moment to do much rebuilding, and if it hasn't escaped being noticed, nor do I have a garage to work in, as that is almost certain to have to be partially demolshed due to big cracks in the brickwork. Still hope to be able to put a new engine in with a bit more power, so what a great chance to take the engine out and try to sell it! Anybody want a supercharged 406 with only 2k on the clock, runs perfectly, never been over 5750rpm?

I think the guy is keen on white
virgin angels as I remember it right
Got the car down to the factory yesterday after 300 miles of pouring rain and setting of at 5am. Good to see so many shiny "perfect" examples of our breed of car, and to think that I will hopefully get mine back in that state in 3-4 months time. Then it's time for the new engine, not because of the tree incident just because it has to be done. Thought about an LS7 but I think they're just too expensive and untried yet. Have to say that if I had the money Boosted's LS7 package would be very high on my list. But I'll just have to settle on a little destroked 427 with a bigger blower. I'll eventually post some pics when it finally appears as I've learned how to show pics now. So assuming Mr Insurance is cooperative then I will have to agree that every storm cloud has a silver [or black in this case] lining.
