For all of you that aspire to huge HP, check out this TT'd GT40.. have a look at the guys faces when they get out of it after the first ride. Priceless

http://video.google.com/videoplay?doc

.. over 1000rwhp on stock internals.. I wonder for how long.

I know... this is not a GT40 forum, but its a great video.

What medication is Joe on? X's that by 4 and add the first number you thought of and I think you will find that to be half of what is required.
Bloke is a nutter, but a necessary nutter. Only thing that I could see wrong was the colour of the mans ride.

I think it made 1012bhp at the flywheel..... thats mental.

Made me laugh at how down he was to be beaten by a turbocharged Busa, I guess we are all little kids at heart.

It is not more power that Joe needs to deal with such situations, it's a grenade launcher fitted to the GT.hehe

Even though that video is old I have watched it many times. It gives me hope that when I will be older I will still be into cars just as much and be as young at heart as I am now.

Sick Sick car, almost as sick as a 4 rotor Ultima would/will be.

Actually those engines are almost bulletproof to 1000HP. All acheived on stock fuel and stock bottom end, longevity should be good just as long as its tuned properly and treated well and maintained. I wouldn't be suprised if you could get 30k+ out of that motor.

I think I spotted on the video that they were using race fuel.

what comepany does has done the conversion?? is it a twin turbo with the turbos mounted behind the engine and low down? if so i think i have seen that before. the company claimed 1000RWHP (thats what most american tuners use, often figures are very similer to UK cranks figures!!) and that was on race fuel.

still a pretty cool car. also think the company did a twin turbo lambo! hehe

thanks CHris.

There are a few other guys doing this to GT's here in the states. On guy is in my home town of Sarasota, FL. www.heffnersperformance.com/fordgt.htm

He does not go as high as 1000 hp but I think he puts together a cleaner looking package.

I am having my 2006 GT transformed into a GTX1 with the performance upgrades but not twin turbos. www.gtx1.com/

It is hard enough keeping the tires to stick on my Can Am 720.

With just a simple pully upgrade, headers, exaust, and reprograming the car should have about 750 for my GTX1 but it still will not keep up to the Can Am. Both are fun to drive but the Can Am is without a doubt the best all around.

i dont think the car is running yet. it will probably be done for next year as i think the intended use is on the salt flats and top speed work. also i think the owner is gunning for over 260mph!!!

engine details and some pics of the engine are availiable form the nelson site (www.nelsonracingengines.com). the engine is basically one of their 427 twin turbo chevies. the one going in the car has all the extra bis on there and Tom Nelson said it would cost about $45K, a basic engine would set some lucky git back about $35k. from what i can gather its a dart tall block, Dart heads (O ringed block and heads), a bomb proof bottom end (there is a vid on the site of a bottom end that has done well over 100 1000bhp plus pulls and there is no wear at all!), and a pair of T70 turbos. they are making nearly 1100bhp on pump fuel and 1600bhp on race stuff! think they are going air to air intercoolers in the side pods but no pics so far (they normal use air to air).

as i said these guy build quiet a few of these engines and they know exsactly what they are doing. if you look at the site there are loads of vids of verious engines and pulls on the dyno. they make 1000bhp on normal fuel look EASY.

as for gearbox, i think its a race box, but is also found in the Zonda and Koenigsegg, so should be upto the torque and power its making.

also, if 1600bhp is not enough for your road car, there is a guy on LS1tech thats having a VERY special engine built for him by nelson. its a 454 twin turbo thats running 16 injectors. the first banck is for normal fuel and will get to about 800-850bhp (low boost settings), the second banck are for race fuel and will fuel the engine to.......1850BHP!!!!!!! hehe

now i cant say i have heard any where else that nelson is building this engine, but the guy did seam like he knew what he was talking about (it was going in his corvette lol) so i do think its true!

thanks Chris.

Horsepower is pretty easy. 1500 hp small blocks, 2000 hp big blocks.
Traction is the issue, did you see the GT spin in a circle on the 1st pass?
Rookies have crashed Ultima's when the power got out of control with 500hp.
An Ultima is a very light car campared to the GT40, viper tanks.
I'm in the process of taking mine back to 6.0 L.
F***ing ridiculous as it was. Spinning the tires at 100mph with light throttle at 3500 rpm's.
