Nuburgring Record

Does anyone know if the factory will try to conquer the Nurburgring record for street legal cars? Think I remembered someone mentioned about the factory preparing to try to set a record at the ring. If not, does anyone know about any new records the factory will try to achieve this year?

Although I do have the Nurburgring on my 'to do' list, I will not be trying for any records. I love to drive but am under no illusions of being particularly good at it and I would never dream of letting someone else drive the GTW around a race track at 10/10 th's.

Realistically I'd very much doubt an Ultima could beat a road legal Radical SR8 round the ring.... be fun to see what a seriously spec'd up one in proper hands could do though.

Also I understand that a road legal Juno is planning an assault this year and will almost certainly smash the record.

and probably a Donkervoort GT too...and a Gumpert Apollo the new 700hp car...its gonna be a nice year

Perhaps we better build a car to do just that then Hay Andy..... Whats the power to wieght of a Radical V8 ??? sure we could be doing 200 in a few places....
I wouldn't mind letting that Ring Taxi driver have a go with it....

Much as I love Ultimas, an SR8 or Juno will be a lot quicker through the bends. Simple physics, 600kg vs 1000kg. Plus better aero.

Doesn't matter how much power you had, you'd never make up on the straights what you lost on cornner speed.

Would be interested to see what a decent spec Ultima could do though. Would guess mid 7s with decent tyres.
