read this if you are installing a LS motor

Hi Guys: Ran into a problem today. It seems that on a few, not many LS motors the rear main seal plate sticks out beyond the face of the block. The motor to adapter plate is not clearenced for this problem. Called Kennedy who builds the adapter and they indicted that originaly they had clearence built in but quit machining the area after they were told by several customers that it wasn't a problem. I am the second person to see this condition and Kennedy intends to do foture adapter plates with the additional relief in them. They also offered to fix any plates that need this correction. The cover only sticks out .040 to 050 inchs so you could easily pull the plate with the bolts to the block but of course now the plate is bent and who knows what that might do. Lee

Good info, I have a funny feeling there are 2 versions of the rear cover. I've noticed this when checking stock and the change may be between the vette and camaro as those are the only plates I usually have.
