Seats and Shocks and other Questions

Hi guys, sorry for the list of daft questions but I have to start somewhere....

What seats can be used in the Ultima? I am 5ft 11ins tall and 14 stone so not a slim Jim.

What size shocks should be used?

Is the steering column custom or can they be found elsewhere?

Hi Richard most people use the factory seats ...they just look right , as regard shocks i bought the std factory ones made by protech i think they cost about £350 or so then i found out protect would set them up however i wanted so now they are re-valved and have bigger dia shafts in them all to my own spec , i run 350lb springs on the front and 650 on the rear and have a set of track springs if i need them (much harder) . simon

I'm 6' 1" and the wrong side of 15 stone and I fit in the factory seats.

I use the factory intrax shocks as I would not know what changes to specify. These have been custom specified for the Ultima. Perhaps you should go the same route until you are familiar enough with your car to go your custom route. At that time you could sell them on to the next new builder.

The steering column is only a shaft running in bearings integral to the chassis rather than the production car route of a shaft within a tube. No doubt you could have one made but I doubt there would be any advantage gained unless you have plans for some custom arrangement. This may be related to column controls which some builders have already done using the factory shaft and Escort (and perhaps other) sticks.

Factory seats all day long..... I went a different route and it was actually more expensive.
