Intro and question about mirrors
Discussion
Hi everyone
I am new to the forum. I have a Lotus Exige S and I want to begin the process of finding it some company.
Came across the Ultima GTR and totally fell in love with it. I have never seen one in the flesh but it looks amazing in the pics and videos, I love the concept behind it, and you cannot argue with its performance figures.
The only problem is that I am in Portugal and I was thinking about buying a second-hand GTR and LHD ones seem hard to come by.
Anyway, quick question about the mirrors. Can they be installed in a lower position? The only thing I don't like about the look of the car is that the mirrors are so high up.
Thanks!

Welcome. .. yeah, they can be mounted lower. Kwright has different mirrors mounted lower.... pics of his car in the gallery on the USA site www.markkoch.net/ultima/gallery.asp
I suggest that you get yourself down to the factory to take a look around and also to take a test ride. I say test ride, because the factory dont let you drive, and after you've been for the ride you will see why they dont let just anyone drive them. The test ride is guaranteed to alter your perspective on the car.
After a ride, you will no longer want one..... you will NEED one.

Hi there.
I seem to remember seeing a couple of pics of GTRs with different mirrors mounted lower down (in the more normal position if you like). I doubt the factory mirrors would fit lower down due to the contour at the fixing point. Also the lower down you go the worse visibility will be, with the mirrors high up you get past the raised rear wheel part of the rear clip, if you see what I mean.
Do you have an equivalent to our SVA, if so you should consider what will pass and what won't as well.

Crafty, that is a familiar feeling. I know the Ultima is in a different league, but that's exactly what happened to me with the Lotus.
I found the video of the convoy for the ultima open day in 2006. If there is one in 2007, do you think that's a better time to visit the factory than just going on a normal day? I am going to Lotus at Hethel for driver's training and could fly to England one day before to visit the Ultima factory.

Arrange a factory visit. Then Ted can take you for a spin. (Take spare pants!) Gassing Station | Ultima | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
