Flat floor, lowered floor and aerodynamics

Not knowing much about aerodynamics, I thought when looking at my chassis it's less than ideal that the chassis floor is flat at the front, then you've got the 2 lowered floor lumps, then it goes flat until the engine bay where it's left open.
There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of point having a flat floor with the 2 lowered floor bits sticking out so had a brainwave whilst incredibly bored at work today.
Would it be possible (and would it actually work) to create a funnel into the gap between the 2 lowered floor pieces, then with a "false" floor, like ally honeycomb sheet, maintain the same level as the lowest point of the lowered floor, but shape it into some kind of venturi leading out to the back.
If I understand correctly, if air is accelerated through a small gap, then the gap opens it creates low pressure which results in downforce/ground effect. Or would the areas involved by trying to do this not actually be large enough to make any real difference?
